I'm guessing c1930s. The Boathouse was built in 1926 on the site of the 'Pengwern Arms' which suffered severe storm damage and lay neglected for several years. It still appears quite small and the raised seawall (see following image) has yet to be constructed.

c1930s again, from the sands.

Parkgate, saltwater baths were completed in 1923 for the pupils of Mostyn House School and opened up to the public to support the running costs. The school sold the baths in 1939 to finance air-raid shelters beneath the school.

Initially, the baths were designed to be filled and refreshed with the incoming high tides until, of course, the silting of the River Dee and the receding water necessitated expensive pipework, pumps and filters. They closed in 1942 for the final years of the war and closed for good in 1950. The two ends were shallow with the deeper section in the middle.

In 1924, swimming superstar Hilda James was a dead cert for the British Team at the Paris Olympics. Her family had other ideas. A social history of life in South Liverpool plus the story of Parkgate Baths on The Wirral provide the early background for this extraordinary book.
