THE MAIDEN UP-TO-DATE

I'm a maiden up to date, a pal for any mate
And the boys they just freeze on to me
In the row, in the park, I'm a demon for a lark
And my life is one eternal spree
Yes! I am all there! and there's nothing I don't know
You! lay your life, dear boys, this maiden's all the go.

Yet though I show my paces, I ne'er kick o'er the traces
Oh dear me no, at least not often.

Now this maiden all so fly, in the row the other 'daiy'
By a swell on his gee was surrounded
'Darling pet, will you wed?' he adoringly said
'How's the cash, dear boy,' I propounded
Yes! I had him there, for this maiden's in the know
Oh! Yes! you bet this maiden knows a thing or so.

Yet though I show my paces, I ne'er kick o'er the traces
Oh dear me no, at least not often.

Yes, this maiden's up to date, she knows how to keep straight
Till a husband she lands in her net
Any duffer she can tame, Mister Juggins is his name
And he'll find her a handful, you may bet
She will be all there, and there's nothing she won't know
Oh! Yes! I tell you straight, she'll know a trick or so.

And when sheshows her paces, she won't kick o'er the traces
Oh dear me no, at least not often.
