A POLICEMAN

We members of the Force, as a matter quite of course
Takes the smiles and hadvances of the fair
But some of us are true, to Sarah, Jane, or Sue
Though such hinstances, of course, are rather rare
For my hown part all I say, is I never wish to stray
Or hinterfer with hany hother man
Contented with my lot, I stick to what I've got
And always will be true to Mary Hann.

Chorus: Yes, I always will be true to Mary Hann
Mary Hann
I always will be true to Mary Hann
Let others wander far, I'm happier as I are
And I always will be true to Mary Hann.

The cook at number nine has a leg of mutton fine
And a key that fits the tap to draw the beer
And the one at number three also sets her cap at me
And she's keeping back a sweetbread till I see her
But I passes by them clean, to the airy at fifteen
And I smell that supper's only just begun
And patiently I waits, till she clears away the plates
For I never will be false to Mary Hann.

Chorus:

For her lips are sweeter far, than a guava jelly jar
And I end by saying just as I began
Don't tempt me with your food; it ain't a bit of good
For I never will be false to Mary Hann

Chorus: Yes, I always will be true to Mary Hann
Mary Hann
I always will be true to Mary Hann
We're fickle in the Force, but exceptions are, of course
And I always mean to stick to Mary Hann.
