QUEENIE THE CARNIVAL QUEEN

You've heard of the King of the Carnival,
Well! I am his beautiful Queen!
The crowds in the street,
They fall off their feet,
Whenever in public I'm seen.
When robed in my gorgeous apparel,
The reddest red roses turn pale,
The sun goes on strike,
The moon gets the spike,
So that's why they bought me a veil.

I'm Queenie, the Carnival Queen,
The fairest in all the procession.
Each time I appear on the scene,
That's when the p'lice take possession.
Enthroned on my chariot with flowers decked about,
My courtiers greet me with many a shout,
For some cry, ‘Hail! Hail!' and there's some cry for Stout
For Queenie, the Carnival Queen.

I dance at the ball of the Carnival,
And add to the masculine woes,
Young men of degree
Fight madly for me,
They lay out the wounded in rows.
With thirst the poor fellows lie dying,
The waiters stand useless about,
Enthralled by my gaze,
They drop all their trays,
And that's why they ordered me out.
I'm Queenie, the Carnival Queen,
The fairest in all the procession.
Each time I appear on the scene,
That's when the p'lice take possession.
I asked the M.C. would he please be so kind
To settle the dispute – my partner to find;
He shouted out, ‘Wanted! Some blighter that's blind,
For Queenie, the Carnival Queen.

To joyfully finish the Carnival,
A torchlight procession is held.
With bonfire alight,
We stay out all night,
At which I have always excelled.
Last year the Town Hall got ignited,
The flames danced and soared in the breeze,
A voice then arose,
‘We must have the hose!'
And that's how I got my bare knees.
I'm Queenie, the Carnival Queen,
The fairest in all the procession.
Each time I appear on the scene,
That's when the p'lice take possession.
And when the big bonfire had got well alight,
The Mayor cried, ‘We'll burn all the litter to-night
So chuck on the rubbish!' and someone said, ‘Right!
Here's Queenie, the Carnival Queen.'
