A prophet and a mesmerist yet neither saint nor liar
For no matter what he prophesies, it's certain to come true
Last week said he 'I prophesy your landlord waits on you.'

My landlord gave me two black eyes

One night to see a drama play my chum and I both went

'I'll mesmerise that actor, and will make him look a fool.'

Last week my old chum prophesied our ceiling would fall in

And that our parson that same week would go and pawn his shirt.

But said, ' Johnny Jones you love the girl but I'll make you sip sorrow
For I'll let you know sir, for your cheek I'll marry the girl tomorrow.'

But in spite of love 'tis strange to say he made her marry him next day
