Dad was dressed in immaculate style, wore a peculiar sort of smile Said he was going out for a while, his wife cried, 'All right' Their little son, who was standing by, winked his eye, said, 'Oh my, I wonder where dad's going to tonight.' He went up to his mother who was standing somewhere near Stood on a chair, and very softly whispered in her ear, Chorus: 'Where does Daddy go when he goes out? He goes out, he goes out Does he call at a music hall, or go to see the picture shows? Where does daddy go when he goes out? Nobody cares or knows Mother, beware! Mother, take care! It must be nice where Daddy goes.' Ma said, 'You're an inquisitive child. If Daddy heard you he'd get wild You know his temper is not too mild when he is upset.' Her little son said, 'It's all right,ma, there you are I heard Pa say, 'I'll meet my fairy fine or wet. So after he went out I very soon had several looks But I saw none of Daddy's fairies in my picture books Chorus: Ma said, 'He knows such a lot of nice chaps He'll be playing at billiards perhaps Or buying you toys, pretty clothes and caps - well you never know Her little son said, 'Perhaps you're right, That's where he's gone tonight When Dad comes in I'll creep downstairs tip-toe To keep those lovely fairies to himself it is a shame Perhaps he'll bring one home tonight for me to have a game.' Chorus: 'Where does Daddy go when he goes out? He goes out, he goes out Does he call at a music hall, or go to see the picture shows? Where does daddy go when he goes out? Nobody cares or knows Mother, beware! Mother, take care! It must be nice where Daddy goes. |
